Our History
We knew there was a better way.
We were founded nearly a decade ago with the idea of creating superior marketing and midstream services for providers. We employed our industry expertise and team tenacity to benefit producers in innovative ways while cutting out the unnecessary costs of typical midstream contracts.
The old midstream model leaves a tremendous amount of value on the table, which isn’t sustainable. At Icon Midstream, we view producers as partners. We believe their success is our success.

Icon Midstream is dedicated to the energy sector's growth, improvement, and innovation through the development of proprietary and patented transition energy technologies, including hydrogen reformation, CO2 conversions, and emerging and green agriculture opportunities. In an industry with such highs and lows, we'll stay nimble and continue to find solutions where others don't.

How We Got Here
-2013
Like so many of the world’s grand ideas, the concept of Icon Midstream was born over a brainstorming session with a Saint Arnold’s Icon beer in-hand.
Founder Darren Espey envisioned a company that used his experience in midstream and marketing to create a better and more cost-effective experience for producers by cutting unnecessary costs and contract pain points - and doing so with integrity and in the best interest of the producer.
-2015
Construction began on Icon Midstream Pipeline’s high-pressure gathering system in West Virginia. The start of this project marked an opportunity for an entirely new area in the Appalachian to begin production and was completed the following year.
Seizing the opportunity to add value to customers, Icon begins marketing fractionated NGLs and refocused our wholesale marketing on gas and NGL producer services model.
Closed on our multi bank credit facility.
Complete sale of Icon Midstream Pipeline to Morgan Stanley Global Infrastructure Fund.
Icon’s portfolio of marketing clients continues to grow, with daily volumes exceeding 250,000 MCF per day.
Icon Minerals Management, LLC is formed, and Icon begins management of one of the largest single privately held mineral portfolio in Appalachia.
Daily volumes now exceed 350,000 MCF per day - growth of 40% from 2016.
Icon Energy Consultants, LLC is formed. This M&A and commercial strategy consultancy focuses on private equity, domestic and foreign strategics, foreign sovereign wealth clients, and private wealth clients.
Icon Energy Consultants experiences solid growth as we engage in several multi-billion dollar M&A efforts in the upstream and midstream space.
Icon Midstream Group grew to include Icon Investco and Icon New Energy, and marketing volumes exceeding 400,000 MCF per day.
Icon continues to grow across midstream, marketing, and consulting business lines.
To support our growing midstream and emerging technology efforts, we added full-time engineering staff, and we completed the formation of VC Fuel and Icon’s first 5 investments across the green energy sector.
Our first installation and operation of a proprietary and patented cold fusion hydrogen reformer is on schedule for Q4 under H2Go-Global.
We even launched a website.
We have big plans for continued growth alongside our incredible customers and partners. And we plan to open VC Fuel to outside capital by mid-2022.
